Portrait of a Young Woman
Flemish, mid 16th Century
This lovely 16th century portrait was painted by a follower of Catharina Van Hemessen, and is simply entitled 'Portrait of a Young Woman'. Van Hemessen is the earliest known female Flemish painter for whom there is verifiable extant work. She was active during the late 1540's - the late 1550's.
