CRF Day of Wrong: October 25, 2003
Let me open with this: Day of Wrong is FUN.
Through many hours of working and slaving over a sewing machine (OK, last minute "Oh, dear God, I havn't finished ANYTHING!!!!" panic sewing), we threw together some cute costumes for CRF's "Day of Wrong". For Himself--a perky little shirt made out of kidlet print fabric (featuring, among others, Lyle the Lion and Terry the Tiger!), a rather serious doublet and some FABOO purple silk pants. I love those pants. Those are happy pants. They feel nice.
Sorry, having a moment... *grin*
Your seamstress went as the Muppet Slayer--bright orange fuzzy skirt (made with 100% real Muppet!), pink and orange chemise, and bright magenta bodice. The bodice is wool, wool is period... so the bodice is period. Right? *grin* Top the costume off with little "cages" hanging off of my belt with Muppet finger puppets trapped inside (although the Swedish Chef escaped sometime during the day... evil, tricksy Muppet... we hates him, we do...) and a little sign stating "The Muppet Slayer--No Muppet too big or small". The costume was a big hit--we were chased down as we were leaving the site by a young lady who (incorrectly) identified the Muppets (Rolf, Beaker, and Animal) as "Elmo and Zoe", but she DID bow down before me and declare herself unworthy to be in my presence. So we forgave her. :)
Our wenches and rogues came in a variety of costumes--all wonderfully creative and mostly rather LOUD. Loud colors are fun.
Battle cry for the day: "BORK BORK BORK!" (a la "The Swedish Chef")
And wenchings abounded.... we had an impromptu drive-by wenching of Johnny from "The Lost Boys", and then topped the day off by wenching Nikki's dad, who was visiting her for the weekend (and attending faire in garb for the first time!). He was a wonderful sport about it all--and looked like he enjoyed the process. Can you blame him? :)
...and a surprise wenching of Himself. :) When we first met, he asked me what a wench does. Now he knows. :)
Top the day off with viewings of "Don Juan and Migeul", "Stars of the Orient", "The Lost Boys" and "The Tortuga Twins' R Rated Show", some shopping, and a turkey leg.... all in all, it was an awesome day at faire. :)
John Broadfoot... and... JOHN BROADFOOT?!?!? HUH? :)
Jason, from "A Midsummer's Knight's Dream". They do the really cute shoulder dragons... we're trying to get them to bring out a badger for next year. ;)
Beth, one of the newest Wenches of the NC Local 96. She had cute butterfly stickers on her face! :)
Beth, part deux. She went as a cat for day of wrong--her little ears (hidden in the feather crown) were adorable!
Yes, this is what I wake up to every morning...
Nikki's Dad came down for a visit this weekend, and somehow she convinced him to come in garb. Of course, since he was here for one day and one day only...
...we had to wench him. :)
Oh, it's a hard life....
To be surrounded by a plethora of beautiful women...
...and marked with lots of red lipstick kisses...
...but somehow...
...he survived. :) And was a great sport about it, considering it was his first time meeting us all--and his first faire in garb. :)
Of course, since it was Himself's first time meeting many of the NC wenches...
We had to target him as well. :)
He didn't protest that much.... one might say that he rather enjoyed it.
Don, in his John Deere Glory!
Group Shot of the Wenches and Rogues of CRF
Tempest's cousin, Ember. All I have to say is this: wow. Just wow.
Yeah, we found a Lost Boy and had an impromptu practice wenching. Oh, it's SO difficult to be a wench sometimes. ;)
MisRed and the Wenchlet
Gotta make sure the garb is on straight...
Come to think of it, MisRed is awful good at making sure all of our grab is on straight. ;)
Dude, check out the SOCKS!
Yes, they let me out in public in this outfit...
Let me go! Let me go!
I still contend that we are a damn cute couple. Couple of WHAT, I'm not sure...
Oh captain, my captain! Cap'n Kestrel donning the teal...
Jayden, looking decidely perky
Jayden, part deux--showing how wrong DoW garb can truly be. ;)
Jayden and her dad--showing that craziness DOES run in the family. ;)
Himself, manly man making a manly man pose
More manly man doing manly men things
What part of "don't steal the sign" do you not quite understand?!?!
Wow. That's just... wrong, Ted. Just wrong. Bravo!!! :)
"It's a dirty job, being a poster boy" quoth Himself, "and *I* get to do it!"
"LOOK! Pictures in the magic box! OOOOHHHHHHHH....."
...and, in closing... manly men, manly garb, manly pose.
